DVSA have amended their standard operating procedures for carrying out driving tests. Tests are currently only being arranged at test centres where there are hand washing facilities (as examiners will ask candidates to wash their hands before the test), for key workkers who have an “emergency test” booked. There are hand washing facilities at all of Nottingham’s test centres (Chilwell, Colwick and Watnall).
In addition, candidates are no longer being offered the option of being accompanied by their instructor on the test (although, in my experience, most learners choose to go unaccompanied) or to be involved in the end of test feedback session. The amended procedures were updated further yesterday and reflect DVSA’s approach to face coverings. I will advise my learners more fully of the new approach (and any future changes) once their test date is booked, as part of their test preparation.
